New Album Nemesis Tackles Huntington’s Disease & Mental Health

Huntington’s disease affects tens of thousands of families — and Araless’s new album Nemesis turns that fear into music.

The Story

Nemesis is a 17-track concept album following a man’s fight against his inner demon born in the shadow of Huntington’s disease, the fatal genetic disorder that claimed his mother and sister.

Blending hip-hop, rock, trip-hop, R&B, and blues, it examines the fear of a diagnosis, the weight of grief, and the struggle to preserve identity in the face of inevitability, while confronting the stigma around mental health.

Across its arc, the protagonist faces his insecurities, chooses to be tested, learns he is free of the disease, and banishes the demon for good — emerging with a hard-won sense of purpose and gratitude.
